READING, PA (September 15, 2021) – Berks County Community Foundation is run by the very best team in the world of philanthropy. Keeping those team members healthy and productive through the COVID-19 pandemic has been our top priority. It has remained our top priority during the ongoing surge of the delta variant of the virus, and it will remain our top priority even as we reopen our community conference center on October 4. We will continue to protect the health of our team, our visitors, and those with whom we work. Toward that end, we decided to require all of our employees to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.

This decision is consistent with an approach that has guided the Community Foundation’s efforts since the virus first appeared: Follow the best available medical guidance.

It’s become clear that the most effective way to protect our community from the devastating health and economic effects of continued COVID-19 surges is having our eligible population fully vaccinated. The vaccines have proved to be both safe and effective. They have shown themselves to be remarkably robust at preventing serious illness or death among the small percentage of vaccinated people who do become infected.

Moreover, the threat of more dangerous viral mutants makes it imperative that everyone who is eligible becomes vaccinated.

By doing what is best for us all, we can bring this pandemic under control.
