Kevin Murphy joined Berks County Community Foundation as its first employee in 1994. As president, he is chief executive officer of the corporation. He supervises the business and operations of the foundation and serves on its board of directors.
Kevin is immediate past-chair of the board of directors of the Washington D.C.-based Council on Foundations. He co-chaired the national search for the Council’s chief executive officer in 2012.
Previously, Kevin served two terms as president of Community Foundations for Pennsylvania, and as chair of the board of directors of The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities.
In 2001, Kevin was selected as a German Marshall Foundation Transcontinental Fellow to serve as a consultant to the Togliatti Community Foundation in Togliatti, Russia. He worked with philanthropic organizations in Russia, and has returned to that country on several occasions to continue the exchange.
In 1990, Kevin was named Special Assistant to the Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging. After leaving the Department of Aging in late 1991, he worked as a consultant in the retirement and nursing home industries.
A State College native, Kevin graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication and Business. He holds a Master of Science in community leadership from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
