Jason Brudereck

Director of Communication

Jason directs all marketing, communication, special events, social media and website management for the Community Foundation and Jump Start Incubator.

Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Jason spent more than 15 years as a reporter and columnist at the Reading Eagle. During his tenure at the newspaper, he wrote extensively about poverty, crime, mental illness and the interconnectivity of various social problems. In 2012, he earned the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association’s distinguished writing award, the top individual journalism prize in Pennsylvania.

Also in 2012, Jason’s newspaper series “The New Face of Poverty” won the first-place award for news series of the year in Pennsylvania. He was then executive producer of “Poverty to Prosperity: Reading Looks to the Future,” a WFMZ television documentary based on the newspaper series. The television show won first place in the documentary category from the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcast Association.

Jason volunteers for the Literacy Council of Reading-Berks, where he serves as vice president of the board.

A Berks County native, Jason graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He has worked for The Patriot Ledger, Quincy, Mass.; the Naples Daily News, Naples, Fla.; and The Associated Press.
