The ladies who contribute to the Power of the Purse in Berks County Fund recently kicked off their second year at a meeting at the Community Foundation’s conference center.
The lively group of members and guests discussed issues facing women and girls in our community and decided to continue to provide grants to programs that remove barriers – including those related to health – for women or girls who are trying to go to school or get a job.
Organizations with programs that address those issues are encouraged to apply for a grant before the December 31 deadline. Click here to apply. If you have questions about the application (we have a new system!), give me a call.
There’s still time to get involved with the Power of the Purse in Berks County Fund. If you’re interested in becoming a member, contact Franki Aitken at the Community Foundation at 610.685.2223.
Members are asked to contribute a minimum of $1,000 ($500 for those under 35) annually to the fund. Members then review grant applications, go on site visits to the organizations that apply, and work together to select the organizations that receive grants.
