READING, PA (November 1, 2021) – It’s odd that I’d get excited about a coffee shop. I’ve never had a sip of coffee in my life.
Still, today was an exciting day in downtown Reading. Starbucks opened.
While I don’t drink coffee, I’m not oblivious to the fact that Starbucks fans are… well… fanatical.
And now, right here in downtown Reading, anyone with a hankering for a Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino can just head on over to the Alvernia CollegeTowne Campus and order one. It looks like a nice place to gather with friends or have a business meeting, as well.
Having a Starbucks is one of those small amenities that makes it just a little easier to recruit a business downtown, takes away one objection to meeting downtown, and probably makes it that much easier to entice students to study downtown.
So congratulations to our friends at Alvernia University. Their leadership and investment are helping to transform Reading into a more vibrant community.
Sincerely,
Kevin K. Murphy, President
