When 8-year-old Javien was hospitalized over the holidays, he raised money for the homeless in his hometown of Reading, Pa. On February 8, 2020, Berks County returned the favor and the Cystic Fibrosis Fund of Berks County presented Javien and his 24–year-old sister Monique — both CF patients — with two AffloVests for their treatment. The $34,000 gift of the vests that was made at the annual Valentine’s Gala for Cystic Fibrosis will greatly improve their quality of life. The custom-fit portable vests free patients from other machinery. One was purchased by the Cystic Fibrosis Fund of Berks County and one was donated by AffloVest manufacturer Biophysics.

The gala also featured Rachael Lippincott, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Five Feet Apart.

The gala is closing in on having raised $2 million since it began almost 20 years ago. If you missed the gala, you don’t have to be late to the party. You can still donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Fund, which is administered by Berks County Community Foundation.

Some of the photos from this year’s gala can be seen below. But there are many more!
