This position is the senior staff person responsible for resource development and promotional efforts of the Community Foundation. It oversees donor services, asset development, special events and marketing activities. This role is responsible for creating new funds and delivering services to donors.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Serve as part of the Community Foundation’s senior leadership team, advising the president on corporate strategy and management issues
- Scan the Community Foundation’s operating environment for opportunities to expand the foundation’s impact
- Oversee the management and development of the Community Foundation brand, including building consistency around the foundation’s voice, its story, and visual representation

- Develop and oversee the execution of a strategic marketing and communication plan that supports the Community Foundation’s overall strategic plan, culture, and values
- Oversee the development and management of an annual marketing and communications budget

- Create a donor-engagement strategy that (1) improves ongoing communication and interaction with existing donors, (2) includes a deep focus on the impact of the Community Foundation’s programmatic work, and (3) provides educational opportunities about creating a philanthropic legacy that positions the Community Foundation as a planning resource

- Develop a communication strategy to position the Community Foundation to participate in church and nonprofit dissolutions
- Develop written content in support of the Community Foundation’s messaging strategy

- Provide leadership to a team that includes a Communication Manager (in place) and college-level interns

- Monitor success of effort through Key Performance Metrics and report regularly to the President on the progress of the effort

- Advise the President and others on strategic communications issues, including crisis communications

- Periodically brief the Board of Directors on strategies and results

- Manage a portfolio of approximately 40 major donor prospects

- Coordinate with the program team to identify prospective donors and cultivate their interest and ultimately, their investment, in the Community Foundation’s work

Experience/Education Required/Sought:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- At least ten years of continual advancement within an organization or through various roles
- Experience in major gift development or commensurate experience in financial services sales
- Prior experience with organized philanthropy is not required but would be considered an advantage
