VOiCEup Berks creates opportunities for people to volunteer, learn and lead in their communities. We strive to provide volunteers with a high-quality experience that fuels further action, and we envision a day when everyone is inspired and equipped to create positive changes in their world.

What makes VOiCEup different than other volunteer organizations? We are dedicated to connecting all sectors of Berks County to volunteer opportunities through a service -learning model. Service learning integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience.

Our organization shows volunteers the “why” behind their service efforts. When volunteers begin to understand root causes of the issues facing their communities, they are better equipped to take action, create meaningful change and understand the value of their service.

VOiCEup Berks serves as an affiliate for Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC), a national organization promoting service and civic engagement for youth ages 11-18. YVC of Reading engages youth through school-based programs, summer camp, and monthly countywide opportunities. Our model allows youth to explore their community together and share experiences and ideas while developing leadership and 21st Century skills.

Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading (YVCR) was recognized as New Affiliate of the Year in 2017 by the national organization. In 2016-2017, YVCR engaged 226 youth who implemented 56 service projects benefitting 26 agencies for a total of over 1,100 hours of service to our community.
